Landscape Design at Parker Palm Springs

“Imagination makes you see all sorts of things.”

Grounds with Hammock

The California desert is blessed with endless sunshine, unique flora and fauna, and incredible vistas. In this unforgettable landscape sits the 13-acre estate of Parker Palm Springs, a property designed to let you lose yourself in its imaginative beauty and enjoy the dreams it inspires.

Like all great settings, Parker Palm Springs allows you to immerse yourself in the moment with something new to discover around every corner. As guests explore the grounds, they begin to appreciate the thought that went into the landscape and the seamless nature of the property from indoors to outdoors.

Created by landscape architect Judy Kameon, founder of Elysian Landscapes in Los Angeles, Judy says she found inspiration for her work from Jonathan Adler, interior designer for Parker Palm Springs. “The space is experiential, a place of joy, comfortable in its luxury,” Judy says.

Two years in the making, Judy also took inspiration from the renowned Lotus Land Gardens in Montecito, California. Began in 1941, it was the passion of Madame Ganna Walska, a well-known Polish opera singer and socialite. Like those gardens, the Parker Palm Springs’ are dramatic, unexpected and whimsical in nature, a blend of Mediterranean and sub-tropical landscaping. Meandering paths reveal hidden surprises and converge around a stunning, Moroccan-tiled water fountain. It is a magical place that is meant to be explored.

Perhaps your day starts in the gentle cradle of a hammock. Swinging between date palms, you close your eyes and enjoy the aroma of flowering citrus trees that fills the air. Perhaps you follow it with a glass of Pastis and a delightful game on the pétanque courts. Then, perhaps a drink by the sparkling waters of one of three swimming pools. Perhaps dinner is on the terrace, topped off by an evening around the fire pit, gazing at the glorious stars. Perhaps.

For Judy, it all came together at the first wedding event held at Parker Palm Springs. “We were just finishing up the planting,” she says. “When I heard that the ceremony was going to be in the croquet garden, cocktails in the fire pit area and dinner and dancing in the palm court, all connected by the pathways, I knew the guests understood our vision for the property.”

At the Parker Palm Springs, time is meant to be savored. Here, accidental moments are the best kind — bumping into an old friend, taking up a conversation with a stranger, and turning a corner to discover something wholly unexpected.
