How to stay cool in the desert

I can resist everything except temptation.
— Oscar Wilde

The desert of Palm Springs is a siren. Sculpted, breezy, and seductive, its stunning natural beauty is unmistakable and completely irresistible. But, like many things that make one’s temperature rise, it must be handled with care. Approached the right way, it’s a temptation you can enjoy again and again – without getting burned.

When it comes to staying cool, Parker Palm Springs is like the ice in a Champagne bucket. A perennial favorite of Condé Nast Traveler, and among the very best luxury hotels in Palm Springs, we know how to lower the temperature without turning down the heat.

The Coachella Valley is a unique American paradise, worthy of both admiration and respect, so be wise and stay cool.

Lemonade Stand

In the desert, hydration is critical. Fortunately, Lemonade Stand, our on-property destination for citron pressé serves up a variety of treats made exclusively from lemons grown right on the estate. Order one of our lemon signature cocktails, then find a shaded hammock strung beneath giant palms. As you sway in the breeze, sipping perfection, you may wonder why you don’t do this more often.

Poolside Cabanas

Speaking of shade, there is no better way to enjoy a day by the pool than with a private cabana. Luxurious and perfectly situated, our cabanas are ideal for small groups, couples, or anyone who wants to elevate their poolside swagger. With three swimming pools to choose from, there is a perfect ambience for the mood you seek.

Palm Springs Yacht Club

After a day in the sunshine, give your body some love at our renowned on-property spa-emporium — a place Vogue magazine calls “serene and chic all at once”. We’ll greet you with a thimble full of cucumber-infused vodka and a key to the luxurious private locker room. Once in your comfy terry cloth robe and flipflops, you’ll set sail to one of 15 private treatment rooms for some personal pampering, customized to your specifications.

Palm Springs Aerial Tramway

For a cool adventure, consider getting some elevation on this tramway up the mountains to the pristine wilderness of Mt. San Jacinto State Park. Often 20 degrees cooler than the desert floor, here you’ll enjoy unparalleled views of up to 50 miles and some of the most beautiful unspoiled wilderness in California. Offering more than 50 miles of trails for all levels, we recommend the short 1.5 mile Desert Loop Trail for stunning vistas without breaking too much of a sweat. After, repose with refreshments and review your camera roll at one of their two restaurants.

In the desert, staying cool in style is part art, part experience, and always Parker Palm Springs.
