A Parker Palm Springs’ New Year’s Eve
“My intuition told me you’d come on the scene.”
— George Gershwin
Even the most inevitable events can sometimes sneak up on us. It is part of the beautiful surprise that is life, and it happens because we humans have the happy ability to live in the moment. Perhaps that is why as another year passes, our mood turns reflective, even as we look forward.
Being in the moment is somewhat of a mantra at Parker Palm Springs and one of the many reasons why our private desert oasis is the ideal environment to take stock, unwind, and get ready for the coming year – with or without resolutions.
A memorable Palm Springs New Year’s Eve is more than just one evening. In fact, the days leading up to the big night and the morning (or two) after are just as important. Fortunately, our thirteen-acre estate offers a surprise around every corner, the kind that are meant to inspire, relax, and bring on a smile, even after you have gone.
This year, New Year’s Eve is on a Saturday, providing the perfect excuse – not that you need one – to turn your visit into a long, long weekend. Arriving a day or three before December 31 gives you time to slow down, kick up your heels, and explore the estate. Staying an extra day or two means you are guaranteed to start the year off right.
There is no better way to end the year than around one of our three gorgeous swimming pools. Each has its own ambience with a distinct musical vibe. A hand-crafted cocktail, a fresh fruit kabob, the world’s most comfortable lounge chair, the perfect water temperature, and the glorious desert sunshine equal poolside heaven. It is the afternoon you have been waiting all year for, and one you certainly deserve.
Recently, readers of Condé Nast Traveler once again named Parker Palm Springs as one of their favorite destinations in Southern California and our dining and beverage options are part of the reason. From the exceptional cocktail mixologists at Mini Bar, to the Parisian inspired share-plate offerings of Counter Reformation, light bites poolside at Lemonade Stand, to the California fresh fare of Norma’s, your palate will have much to celebrate. Come New Year’s Eve, you can choose to dine with us, or if you are planning an intimate evening, retire to your room and enjoy in-room dining until 11 pm, including wine and champagne service.
Come January 1, the day is yours – no matter what time you choose to rise. Begin with a meal, light or decadent, on our open-air terrace, then explore the property which is dotted with hundreds of soaring palms and citrus trees. Feel the grass between your toes on the croquet lawn or try your hand at Pétanque, the French boules game which requires you to sip a glass of Pastis as you play (at least that is what a visiting Frenchman told us). Those feeling energetic can grab a racquet and head to our Terre Battu tennis courts, but if a slower paced form of competition is more appealing, there is a nicely shaded giant chess board awaiting your moves.
After a morning of adventure, our on-property Palm Springs Yacht Club (PSYC) is considered by many to be the best spa in Palm Springs. This free-standing emporium of self-indulgence offers fifteen private treatment rooms for facials, wraps, reflexology, and massage. There are few better ways to start a new year.
The refrains of ‘Auld Lang Syne’ will soon be in the air and Parker Palm Springs is the perfect place to welcome them in. We look forward to raising a glass with you.
